Hey y'all. Some of you know me well, some don't know me at all.
But I am putting it out there that I have a new website in case any of you need a photographer (weddings, events, p.r., etc.) or know of anyone who does.
Check it out, you won't be disappointed, you'll see something of yourself. :)

Suggestions for tropical get away for October?

Hey friends:

Ari and I hoping to find that magical destination where we can invite a bunch of friends and swap vows.

We'd love it if this magical destination:
- is not too expensive to get to (for our friends and families) for tickets and for accommodations
- not a touristy destination
- is a great time to be there in October
- warm/tropical if possible

We've been looking into Sayulita, Mexico.. but some new developments have us wanting to check out other potential places.

We are open to all suggestions, and have also looked at the following places as well if you have 2 cents to add:

1. Trinidad
2. Puerto Rico (??)
3. Panama
4. Costa Rica (???)

Thanks, Toni

How they do in Dublin....

Whats going on 'licians? Just wanted to share this from my friend Raven (different Raven...) about an amazing event that is again happening across the pond. Also it gives me a good excuse to catch up with ya'll since we are so slumbery in our Decompression.... ~Mwah~ Licians!!!!

Halloween night here (celebrated with firecrackers for some reason) marked the first time in 1,000 years -- according to my friend Aidan -- that the wicker man has been burned in Dublin. Burning a wicker man is a Gaelic/pagan rite, usually associated with spring. They aren't normally as large as this one -- 44ft. It was pretty awesome. This is just a still from the video I shot (downloading the video clip to send took forever and I gave up. Anyone know how to compress clips or whatever to send them properly?). Aidan spearheaded the project, adn got help from kids in the housing project to build it. It went more or less well, so chances are they'll let him do it on the river (Liffey) next year. There was one snag: while swinging his seven-foot torch in the air to whip the crowd up, the flaming head of it flew off the staff and into the crowd. No one was hurt. As the man burned, he collapsed into a slow bow as if to honour the crowd that honoured him with their presence; beautiful stuff. For my part, I was dressed as a demon and scared the living shit out of quite a few kids who thought I was real. I really missed Halloween there, they still haven't quite got the hang of it here in Dublin.

*for some reason I can't put up the pic but if you want it lemme know and I'll forward it to you*

campaliscious prescene at european burn??

Hey guys had some muchly funtimes hanging out with some of you groovy peeps last year courtesy of david,

any fear of seing any of you guys here in europe fore the regional bun in spain. www.euroburners.org/nowhere

well if you cant make it its allof the understandible transatlantic burning is tricky, trust me i know boiut that shit

but if your interested in participatinf from home then read on and if you can drop me a postcard or 6

my name is drunkennurse from the london and euro burner communites way out here in rainy europe a little west of greenland

i will be DPWing playa side it for august andseptemember before makin my way to india via sidney but before all that i have to get my shit in gear for my project for the european regional we run called nowhere, in the mountains in spain

I want to establish a post office. I will be making post cards that the citizens of nowhere can send to their friends all over the world, buying the stamps, even borrowing a camel to deliver mail on site, designing my own theme post man uniforms, including candy raver mailman, silver mail man now all i needs is post to deliver!!

there will obviously be internal festival mail, but everyone loves getting post especially if its not the sucky money draining or junk sort, but many of our participants at nowhere will be first timer randoms with no burner friends......yet, so i want to ensure that everyone gets post!! specially from people from all over the world so i'm asking my tribe and burner friends if they wanna participate.

I need people to send a post card to my house here in london which i can take with me to spain in july and deliver onsite. the only problem is to fund my travels this year I have to become homless for a few months to save on rent so i'm couch surfing all through may and june so i need to get them sent to me soon before the end of april.

write a message to a random european or american at the regional on a post card, mail it to my address

citizen of nowhere c/o Michael Mchugh
mail me for my adress

And i'll deliver it on site.

write what ever you want on the card and i'll make sure that on one small cliff edge in spain amongst the mountains that a happy little burner gets a post card from your home town.

so if you feel like helpin we should have around 100 participants this year so if you feel like asking a few of your friends to do the same then we can have post for everyone a couple of days.

don't forget we will have french, german dutch, spainish, italian, flemish, and irish speakers there too so if you or someone you know can speak any of these languages then they should clearlly send a card too. feel free to forward to any one else you think may be interested in helping

many thanks forn your help guys. i really wanna make this project work. if any of you know anyone personally going to nowhere then send them a personaly post card too. and if youhave any friends in europe around the 6th to the 9th then clealry they should come to play at nowhere.

xx

Drunkennurse

remeber it takes 7-10 days foir mail to get to london and i move in a few weeks

check out www.euroburners.org for more information on NoWhere

Wedding Bells

I do!

Please join me in celebrating, supporting and reveling in Katia and Pete's playa nuptuals. Helen, Shira and I have asked the engaged couple what their dream wedding would be, and we would like campalicians to help us bring their vision to fruition.

For Katia, we would love to weave a bridal ritual into the mix of the women's circle on Wednesday. Shira, our sculptor, will be fashioning a hand-made crown which will be adorned with beads and ribbons by each woman (we will provide these). It would also be lovely if someone who is arriving on Thursday could bring a small bouquet of fresh flowers for her (calla lilies are her favorite).

It's important to Katia that these festivities do not take over the campalicious activity calendar but are simply integrated as part of what we're already doing. Therefore... for the ceremony and reception:

Thursday's procession could be their wedding ceremony. Their vision is that everyone wears white/silver and we walk as a group out to the temple (or another spot). The Boulder girls will bring five poles flowing with white fabric which can be carried by individual campalicians. They would also love music to be part of all of this, so bring any instruments you have (especially any sort of drums). Once we stop, we will circle 'round them and people can step forward to offer their blessing, well-wishes or poems of choice. The drums will signal the commencement and we can proceed back to camp to enjoy the potluck feast.

As far as the potluck, although we will be celebrating their wedding, Katia and Pete would want this to continue on as the camplicious bonding event as planned.

Please chime in on these plans and let us know (individually or to the group) if this sounds like something you would support or if you have any other thoughts, ideas, concerns on the matter. Again, Katia and Pete don't want to feel like they're taking over, but since we all love them so much, we wanted to put this idea out to the group and see if you all are up for it.

Love from 2 Virgins and Wonder Woman

If anyone who isn't coming to the playa this year would like to include anything... please let us know!

Hey everyone! I'm having my 2nd annual wax off at my house on Saturday August 20th. This is gonna be quite a party! We'll have Jason Phillips spinnin' some sweet tunes and 2 rooms of waxers preparing to defuzz yer fuzziness and prepare you for some playa smoothness! Anyone who is interested, I will need to know because I've got to make a sizeable wax purchase and I will need a very small contribution for the wax. I am coming up with a price list, but just to give you an idea, legs will be $15.

Even if you won't be getting waxed, please come. We'll have great music, lotsa booze and a lot of wonderful people. The turn out I had last year in the bay area was awesome and it looks to be about 3 times bigger this year.

Please send me an email at emolson3@yahoo.com or i'll be checking in here periodically!

Circle of Life Suffers a Setback, But Our Mission Carries On

Circle of Life Suffers a Setback, But Our Mission Carries On
A Special Message from Our Director on a Recent Office Break-in

Dear Sacred Community of Circle of Life,

Yesterday the Circle of Life office was broken into. Six of our computers were stolen including three brand new computers a donor recently purchased for us. Our back up drive was smashed on the ground and it is still unclear if we will be able to retrieve our data.

The robbery happened at night when no one was at the office. No one was hurt. We do not know who did it. Some of our computers were left behind, and we were lucky to have a back up copy of our entire database in another location. However, sadly, the computers that were stolen had years of information, email addresses and data that might be lost forever. We are doing the best we can to get through this period and wanted to let you know and ask for your prayers for a successful recovery of our back up files.

The good news is that Circle of Life's insurance should cover most of the equipment that was lost. It will take some time to get back up and running, but we are hopeful that with some help, our staff and interns will all be back online in the next week or two.

In the interim, please be patient with us. Unfortunately, we are needing to use our staff time to focus on rebuilding our computer system, and won't be able to be as responsive to your emails and calls as we normally are.

If you are local to the Bay Area and have a skill to offer -- computer support, network support, the ability to re-enter and re-type lost data, or carpentry skills to get our office more secure -- please let us know by e-mailing Aaron at alehmer@circleoflife.org.

I've attached a poem below by Julia about when Luna was cut, that was actually the main reason I was drawn to work with Circle of Life four years ago when I applied for the Executive Director position. Today, as we're sweeping up broken lamps and picking up scattered papers from the break-in last night, I was reminded of it and wanted to share it with all of you.

Despite this setback, our summer at Circle of Life has been incredible. The new level of inspiration, education and connection that has been realized through our Modeling the Solutions series of community events has deepened our awareness of the need for people to gather and connect around a solutions-based vision. This spirit will carry us through the loss and disruption that we are experiencing right now. We move forward with an even deeper commitment to creating a peaceful, just and sustainable world for all.

Thanks for your love and blessings as we rebuild our office!

Peace,

Alissa Hauser
Executive Director

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We Arise Beautiful And Free

I heard today...
Luna's been cut.
Two-thirds and maybe more.
Someone in their rage,
in their anger,
in their frustration
struck out at Luna
wanting to hurt Her…
wanting to hurt me
the way they must be hurting inside.
See...
what we do to the Earth
we do to each other.
And how we treat the Earth
is reflected in how we treat each other
The pain I feel right now that threatens to rip me apart
is the pain I feel every time I see an Ancient elder cut..
the pain I feel every time another species goes extinct..
the pain I feel every time someone yells at a child…
the pain I feel every time another woman dies of breast cancer
caused by all the legal pollutants in her food,
her planet,
her life...
The pain I feel every time I think of Leonard Peltier locked inside
our prisons of disrespect and disconnect.
on and on and on
the pain in our world grows bigger and erupts.
Ricocheting bullets in school yards and halls.
Chainsaws to sacred beings.
When do we begin to look at where this DIS-EASE begins?
In the disconnection from the sacred...
In the disconnection from the heart.
The person who ripped metal into Luna's flesh
is just as ripped apart inside as Luna now is,
as I now am,
as is the world.
May the tears that pour out from the depths of my soul
cleanse the sadness of any who would wish to react in rage.
The person who so viciously attacked Luna
has enough anger for the world.
May we love even more
May we motivate ourselves to committed love in Action
May we motive ourselves to live the life we wish to see in the world.
May we be the transformation we wish to see in the world.
From the inside out...
From the roots branching upwards...
From the heart
to thought
to word
to action.
Through life's trials and hardships
We arise beautiful and free.
California Million Solar Roofs bill

After months of campaigning, we are just two votes away from passing the nation's largest solar power legislation, the Million Solar Roofs bill. The next major milestone is in the Assembly Appropriations Committee where it must pass by August 26th before heading to the Assembly Floor. Your help is needed to urge the 17 members of this important committee to vote YES in the weeks ahead.

Please take a moment to ask the Assembly Appropriations Committee to vote for the Million Solar Roofs bill. Then send this e-mail to your friends and family so more people can make their voices heard for solar power.

To take action, click on this link or paste it into your web browser:
environmentcalifornia.org/envir...ifenergy.asp

Background

Environment California is working to make California the nation's solar power leader by passing the Million Solar Roofs bill, SB 1, which would be the nation's largest solar power policy.

The Million Solar Roofs bill would build a million solar power systems over 10 years and build half of all new homes with solar power. That would grow California's solar market 30-fold, cutting the cost of solar power in half and bringing clean air and energy independence to all Californians.

The Million Solar Roofs bill would accomplish these goals by:

* Creating a $2.5 billion fund to provide one-time rebates to
homeowners of both new and existing homes as well as businesses, farms and schools over 10 years. The fund would come from a small surcharge on ratepayer bills of around 55 cents per month. Low income ratepayers would be
exempt from paying into the fund, but 10 percent of the available money would go specifically to installing solar on affordable housing and low income homes.

* Allowing these million new solar customers to receive a credit on their electric bill for any power that they generate but do not use themselves.

* Requiring new, large single-family housing developers to make solar panels a standard offer, similar to marble counter tops.

A recent analysis commissioned by the Public Utilities Commission and the California Energy Commission found that investing $2.5 billion in customer-owned solar power over ten years will save ratepayers more than $10 billion. Combining real economic benefits with the even greater environmental benefits, the Million Solar Roofs bill is a commonsense
policy for California.

To date, the Million Solar Roofs bill has passed four committees and the state Senate with bipartisan and bicameral support. Gov. Schwarzenegger has already committed to signing the bill should it be put on his desk this September. All that's left is to pass it through Assembly Appropriations by August 26th and through the Assembly Floor by September 9th.

You can find information on previous votes here:
environmentcalifornia.org/envir...ifenergy.asp

I miss all of you and unfortunately it looks like I'm not going to make it this year. Total bummer as I had such an amazing time with everyone at the last burn. I'm still holding out hope for some financial blessings to come my way, just kind of f-in pricey coming from miami. If I don't make it I will have to come visit the west soon as I am planning a move out there in early 2006!

You are the type of wild freaks that make the world go round and I love you all!

Padraic

In miami shakin' that ass!
Tweety's Packing List

Packing & Shopping Lists
TWEETY'S SUGGESTED BM CHECKLIST – 2004

BURNING MAN TICKET (don’t laugh, one of you WILL forget it)
Gas - fill in Reno-check tires and fluids / recharge battery
Coolers –
2 large – 1 for ice and 1 for dry ice (ask me about this if curious)

2 medium for drinks and food ,

1 small for cheese and meat

Ice in Reno at 4th street west of Keystone
Frozen water or juice (from home) in plastic bottles in ziplock bags in coolers (you’ll love me for this tip right around day 3 when you’ve got a real juice slushie)
Water - 3 gallons per person per day
Garbage bags – white trash compactor size & strength (from Costco) are great
Prescriptions (legal and illegal)
Sun block/screen all spf’s
Sunglasses (you can have fun with fashion on this one – “movie star” glasses are always fun)
Goggles
Barbecuer, lighter fluid/charcoal (if you want to bother with BBQ’ing – I think it’s a pain)
Tent for sleeping
Tent for costumes and miscellaneous crap
Stakes - extra long (12”)
Rebar
Double mattress pad with pump and/or foam pads
Pillows (for sleeping and for lounging area(s)
Sheets, pillow cases, and blankets (kinda nice to have a “bed”) and/or sleeping bag
Tarps (extra ones for “floors” around your camping area)
Umbrellas, parasols
Patio furniture (chaise lounge, chairs, little tables)
Hats/scarves/turbans/wigs for fashion and sun blockage
Flashlights and batteries – lots of both
Lantern w/ batteries and/or gas lantern (don’t forget the gas)
Bicycles (a must) – spare tubing for bikes
Bike rack
Ziplocs – esp. LARGE ones (water proof your stuff and helps TONS w/ finding things – you can put socks and undies (if you wear such things) in gallon-sized ziplock, for example)
Chap stick
Skin lotion – STRONGLY recommend Neutrogenia Norwegian Formula Hand Crème (it’s a miracle worker if your hands/feet get dry and cracked….a.k.a. playa foot)
Costumes (don’t get me started)
Stuff to find your tent/campsite with (signs, flag/flagpole, etc.)
Flag? Flagpole
Radio/cassette player/CD player
Water bottles/canteens (and drink till you piss clear)
Lighters
Matches
Corkscrew
Utensils
Swiss Army Knife
Cooking stuff
Cups/glasses/plates/bowls
Ropes
Bungee cords
Simple tools (scissors, plyers, hammer, mallet, building supplies, etc.)
Ladder/step stool (or at least someone in your group should have one)
Games/toys/art supplies/unnecessary crap that you may or may not use
Toiltetries
Road map(s)
Illumination - flashlight/lanterns (in one) are good, round push lights are good, x-mas lights, el wire, etc. etc. etc
Wine/beer/Booze
Baby wipes – WONDERFUL
Spray bottles (very refreshing)
Rake and shovel
Rolling papers
Inside light for car (the round push lights work well)
Batteries - lots of them – rechargeable are best)
Glo sticks/glo toys
Face/body paint (don’t get me started)
Makeup (don’t get me started)
Jewels (don’t get me started)
Fabric(don’t get me started)
mini-chairs/stool
Safety pins - LOTS to connect fabric with canopies/tents and fashion emergencies
Corkscrew
Disposable cameras (the pano disposables are fun)
Clothes/costumes – day = hot, night/early morning = maybe warm, maybe freezing cold (prepare for it all and plan on layers for quick temperature changes)

Notes from 7/10 2005 Planning meeting

Hi everyone,

Here is what we talked about. Dav will be setting up a
wiki for you to input when you're coming and how. I'll
be putting up a yahoo poll so we can vote on a party
theme.

THIS IS LONG, BUT PLEASE READ

AGENDA
1) Where to camp:
Per Sarah, 4:00 and 2 blocks back. This is slightly
different from our usual neighborhood, but if you look
at the BM map
(http://www.burningman.com/preparation/maps/05_maps/05_map.pdf),
theme camps are being built in certain areas of the
suburbs to encourage more traffic. So 4:00 and Bipolar
appears better.
**Jessica, can you communicate and confirm with Sarah
that she's still cool with saving space for us? I will
confirm who will arrive by Sunday; for now I think 5-6
Campalicians will show up by then to help claim space.

2) Camp layout:
The major components are - dome, shade structure,
cars, individual tents, shower, at least one RV, the
mini-core-group truck, and bike rack. Rodge is kindly
putting together a detailed electronic map. We don't
want to be anal, but we thought it'd be nice to really
think through where stuff goes so it's as welcoming
and comfy as possible.
**Mie owes Rodge a complete headcount and total number
of cars/tents.

3) Living room:
We still need to figure out how to get all the
communal stuff up there. It should be there by Sunday.
Who can drive? We can also divide who drives up and
back. I suspect that Dav and I might be able to drive,
but I need to figure out details since I have a newbie
with me too.

The plan is to rent a small truck to carry shade
structures, dome, and shower, as well as the
individual stuff of whoever is driving. We estimate
the total would be around $500. This will be covered
by camp fees (Please note that this is in addition to
storage fees, but if all pay the storage, we will have
some leftover $ which I will apply. So the communal
truck really should be minimum cost, say $20-25-ish)

4) Camp party/fun stuff:
In the tradition of Campalicious - and since we don't
expect to be crazy big this year - we'd like to
reserve Thursday evening at 7pm for a camp potluck.
We'll meet in the dome and we'd like to take time to
welcome newbies, make fuzzy warm announcements, and
just be together. Since this year is a bit more
pod-ized, we'd like to make an extra effort to bond as
a camp. Mark your playa calendars.

After dinner, we'd like to attempt to go out together
in a themed attire. This is trickier due to varying
tastes so I'll put up a yahoo poll to see what y'all
wanna do. We thought throwing a party at camp would be
too ambitious considering our size (but if someone
wants to lead us, please do; most times we just need a
leader)

Tatoos - Jessica, are you willing to take this on and
get this to happen? We all love the idea. Just haven't
done anything. One idea was to make an eye tatoo to go
with the theme of this year. Wear an eye on your
forehead sorta thing. If we want this covered by camp
fees, let me know a budget.

Campalicious logo - if someone can come up with a
draft logo, Rodge has an artist friend who would make
it really cool. Then we'll creat iron-on logos which
can be used for our themed-attire outing (see yahoo
poll)

No art car

Women’s gathering – Wednesday at dusk. Details to
follow.

5) Other tidbits/requirements
Looks like we might not have sofas like last year.
Rodge is thinking about a bench sorta thing. And
everyone always has chairs. But to be safe, I'd like
to ask each person to bring 2 pillows. Ratty and old
is fine, but we'd like 2 each. Katia and Pete are
bringing spanking new carpet (AWESOME!!), so if we
have tons of pillows, that could work. Please note
that you will also need to bring your pillows back. If
you are out-of-town, you can ask someone to bring
pillows on your behalf (and Dav and I will have a few
extra)

Newbies
I'll bring a whiteboard to have in the center so we
can list issues/news that we all need to know about
(ie. how to use the shower, how to manage grey water,
reminder of potluck dinner, etc.

Other than that, Campalicians who are bringing newbies
are responsible for making sure they bring what they
need and know the BM code of behavoir.

On the other hand, we also want to be welcoming as a
group.
** Helen, would you be willing to take leadership of
this? Like create those "say hi" cards we talked
about? We all like the idea of sending emails to you
so you can put together an introduction board at camp.
Let us know the procedure.

Wiki
Once Dav sets this up, I need a headcount of who is
coming. I also need to know when you expect to arrive
and whether you will have a car.

At the moment, this is who I have coming:

Katia
Pete
Shira Burja
katia's other friend
Elida (arriving Thursday)
CC (arriving Friday)
David M(arriving Wednesday) to give Mie measurements
of RV
Helen
Helen's 2 friends
Doug F.
Mie (arriving Sunday)
Dav (arriving Sunday)
Heiko(arriving Sunday with Mie and Dav)
Jessica
Myriam
Doc
Rodge (arriving Wednesday) (bringing bike storage)
Rebecca
Kate/Jen (arriving Saturday, early)
XT and her sister
Doug (going up early?)
Jason Wesche (?)

THAT'S IT FOLKS! THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION : )
BIG HUG!!!
The fun begins in just 54 days. mwa!
Missing two shade structure poles

The small shade structures pieces and parts were in disarray, so Sion and I set up one of them to figure out what piece went where. Nearly going down in defeat, but prevailing in the end, we sketched out some instuctions, taped together the parts for each sets and also labeled the ends of the various poles to make it easier next time.

What we ended up with was three shade structures, except the third is missing two poles. The poles are not in storage, any idea where they might have gone? They would be two white tubes about two feet in length and probably with a sticker that says "3" on them.

first 2005 planning meeting

Turns out 6/29 and 6/30 don't work. Is 6/28 (Tuesday) doable? Leave a note whether that works. If not, we'll do 7/10 as originally plan.

What to discuss:
We need to create a mini-core group This would be 3-4 people who would drive up a small truck that the camp would cover cost-wise. They'd haul up the large shade strutures, the shower, and communal pillows/rugs, etc. No personal stuff except their own. They would be in charge of setting up the basic living room (we're hoping a free truck will make it worth it, and hopefully it won't be too much work since no kitchen/water/packing a giant truck is involved.

Or we can discuss other ways to do this.

We should also discuss how to help out and welcome newbies and out-of-staters.

Please add whatever we need to talk about.

Thanks!

Playa Update from Sarah H.

Hey kids,

Pat and I are just back from july 4th weekend on the playa, super fun!
Juplaya they call it, a little work, mostly fun. Camped at the springs
so lots of water time!

Wanted to check in w everyone. Pat is building greeters and I am
building art-ery, so we'll both be there the week prior. We can hold
some space but the camping set up is different this year...theme camps
are still on esplanad but don't go back 4 blocks anymore...only 1 block
deep now. Instead, those guys run along every 2 or 3 time streets now,
so as to draw people in toward the playa center, like people way out
toward walk in camp and lookie loos and such. This means we will likely
camp closer in toward the esplanad....2 blocks back or so. We can still
be near 4 o'clock but we will be closer in toward esplanad. Check out
the on line map to see how it will work.

Also wanted 2 let u know that it will be very dark this year (new moon).
Darkest its ever been. So think bling, flashlights, l wire, solar lights
in camp, xmas lites, lite your art!!! Etc...

Little airstream is all fixed up and ready to welcome you in for veggie
tofu burritos and 2 buck chuck.

Much love, sarah

It was like 1600 for the 8 days. The company is moturis and they have a website. www.moturis.com/html/services/index.html I'm still not satisfied with the fact that I can pick it up only on the 29th though. Trying to get it sooner now. I did tell them I was taking it to BM, and they seem to be fine with it!!! The rv is a 21 footer ..

Storage final update

Hi Everyone,

Today, Dav, Sion, Sean, and myself cleared out most of the stuff. We should all give mad props to Sion and Elaine for taking the sink, the shower structure, a ton of carpets and 3 more mini shade structures. Without them, Campalicious would have lost all that. Sean took pillows, and Dav and I are storiing 10+ bikes, plus various other stuff.

Tomorrow, Dav will do a final dump run to clean out the storage once and for all. Please also give Dav props for a lot of behind the scene organizing and labor he's doing.

I wish I didn't have to bring this up, but costs have not been covered yet. Please understand that renting storage space was a group decision we all agreed to, and we need folks to chip in. Even if you're not coming this year, but are still a part of us, any amount would help. I know many of you were not thrilled at this cost, but no one had an alternative. I don't think it's fair for Dav right now. Once we close the storage, we'll never have this again (hopefully), but we need to come together to even out this financial burden.

I posted on tribe about doing a 1st 2005 organizational meeting for 6/29 or 30. We should discuss how to organize the living room that we all want.

Thanks!

Notes from 5/22 Meeting

Hi Everyone,

We had a good meeting last night and the following was discussed/decided. It’s a bit long, but please read carefully. Main theme is decentralization!

Storage
We are getting rid of the storage unit, hopefully by end of June. This means a bunch of stuff needs to be discarded (listed below). We identified important things to keep, and Campalicious members will sign up to be responsible for an item or two (listed below). This means people store it wherever they can, and are responsible in making sure it gets to the playa each year. If that person can’t make it one year, or wants to change responsibilities, they need to find a person to hand it off to. Overall, this means storing and hauling communal stuff is decentralized. We will, however, keep a central list of who has what. If you weren’t at the meeting and can store stuff, please speak up. This is still very much a group effort and we all need to contribute.

May 24th – Dav, Pete, Doug will do storage inventory and a dump run for obvious stuff. After this, we’ll have a sure list of what items we’re keeping and still need a home. I’ll send out an email of what’s remaining for people to sign up to store. At the moment, we know that the sink, shower, and one shade structure still needs a home. If you want to claim a bike or anything else, please contact Pete, Dav, or Mie. If you are out of state, contact a SF Campalicious friend to assist you in getting what you need.
June 19th – storage unit cleared out. Sorry to be strict, but at this point, if stuff isn’t claimed, it’s gone.

Camping
We will no longer have a central kitchen (this is experimental and we’ll see if this option works before dumping the sink permanently). Each person must bring their own water and items necessary for camping. You cook and clean near your own tent, and you’re on your own for trash and grey water (we will discuss details about how to introduce newbies about playa rules). If the gourmet cooks want to team up and put together their own mini-kitchen, that’s fine. It’s just that there will be no camp-sponsored kitchen. It will be important that folks are respectful that if they don’t join a gourmet kitchen group, they shouldn’t use that kitchen. The goal of this is each person or small group sets up what they need, and are responsible for maintaining and cleaning it up.

Truck
With such decentralization, we will no longer rent the gigantic truck. Each person must figure out how to bring their own water and bicycle. People can team up in groups, especially with out-of-towners who will need help, and rent mini-trucks or whatever, but there won’t be a camp-sponsored truck.

Central Shade Structure Camp
We all felt that the heart of Campalicious is having a central camp area where we can chill, decorate, and throw a party or two. So although we are decentralizing the kitchen, water, and truck, we all want to put energy into having an awesome living room.

Details will be worked out, but come Playa time, we will ask for volunteers to be a mini-core group. The responsibilities of this group will be much less than packing/driving/unloading the gigantic truck that has everything. Rather, they will be in charge of making sure the living room gets put together. This might mean a small van/truck is rented for this communal stuff, and all who aren’t involved in this mini-core group would pay the costs of the van/truck. The plan is that those who volunteer would get a free rental in exchange for a reasonable amount of work. We are hoping to have sofas again this year, using camp money, so we hope this group can pick up cheap sofas (that we’ll dump after BM so no storage is needed).

We will also have to have an after-burn clean-up of this communal area so that a small group isn’t left with everyone else’s trash in this area.

Shower
We will have a shower! Just need to find someone to store it. Anyone?? This shower can be included in the above communal mini-truck.

Costs
Not everyone has paid for storage yet (and thank you to the 10 people who have). If we clear out the storage by June, Dav will still be $70 in the hole. And we also need money for renting a truck and doing the dump run to clear out the storage. We’ll also incur costs for renting a small truck for the shade structure and purchasing/dumping sofas at Playa time. Decentralizing our efforts certainly makes Campalicious cheaper, but not totally free. Therefore, I’d still like to ask everyone coming this year to still contribute $50. Everything will be adjusted and everyone will pay the same. If we do have left-over money come BM time, we can apply towards a party plan.

List of what we are getting rid of:
All unclaimed bicycles
All carpets (Pete and Katia will bring spanking new ones for this year to be dumped afterwards)
Most cushions
Garbage cans (Pete will keep them but not necessarily bring to BM)
Extra rebar
Boxes of weird knickknacks we’ve collected over time

List of what we will keep, distributed among Campalicious members:
Dome – Dav’s
Cushions that are big and still OK – Mie (5)/Christie (3)
Shade structure – Doug will take maybe 2 (depending on size of boxes)
Need home for the 3rd shade structure
(* this is just for storing since we’ll have a separate group take care of hauling and setting up per the “mini-core group” concept)
Shower (platform, sink, hose structure) – need to find a home for it (*can be part of mini-core group efforts too)
Kitchen sink (will NOT come to the playa this year, but will keep for future just in case) – need to find a home for it. (Sion and Elaine were mentioned as potential??)
Shade structure poles – Rachel and Cesar
Fabric box/decorations – Christie
Rebar (Dav/Mie/Christie/Elida will keep enough for the communal structures.)
Campalicious sign – Mie

To Do:
Roger creating new email list (he’ll explain)
June 19th Close storage unit
July 10th Have 1st Campalicious planning meeting for 2005 BM (whoopee!)
Clarify new organization
Clarify how to educate and assist newbies and out-of-towners
Initial volunteer call for mini-core group
Party concept discussions (?)

If you have any concerns about any of this, feel free to let me or anyone else know. We felt bad everyone couldn’t be at the meeting, but also felt it was necessary to move forward with this whole storage issue. Thanks for your understanding!

Diary of a Campalicious Virgin

Diary of a Virgin BM’er

-Events are quite possibly and most likely, not completely in order-

Wednesday

5am - Wake up, shower and head out

7:30am - Pick up Lupin (Name Withheld To Protect Persons Identity-NWPPI) in Oaktown

We had the best drive up. Talked about anything and everything. Great girl.

1:00pm - Treat Lupin to her first brunch in a long time at BoomTown. We take some deserts even though your not allowed to.

3:30pm - Meet Dav (NWPPI) 11 miles outside of BRC and some guy telling us how he dressed up as a school-girl the night before and got detention.

4:30pm - Driving into BRC. Can see it for miles away - the dust clouds look mean.

4:35pm - Ring the Virgin bell.

4:36pm - Car totally dusty.

5:00pm - Find Lupins camp and make my way to Licious.

5:30pm - Unpacked. Head out on the bike to go see what the hubab is about. I am greeted on the playa by ferocious storms. See the man, the temple and meet a girl named Gina (NWTPPI) (who I thought was Tina) as she is doing hit after hit of Nitrous and laughing her ass off.

7:30pm - Back at Camp. Everyone starts popping 3CD. A synthetic Castaneda trip. Danny (NWPPI) doesn’t feel much and becomes convinced he is immune to any such stimulation. “Mind over matter baby” I say.

11:00pm - Finally find GigsVille and the Temple of Atonement. W’ere supposed to meet everyone there at midnight. People are getting whipped in there! Cruising along from dance camp to dance camp and riding a lot of bike.

Thursday

Midnight - Go to ToA and see that knowone is there. Meet Ellen (NWPPI), Raven (NWPPI) and Rebekkah (NWPPI). Raven is rolling around loving life. I think the other two were sober. Danny takes off.

2:00am - After hitting a few dance camps with the girls I decide to head home and shhleep.

3:00am - Wake up feeling very uncomfortable. Dirty, dust everywhere, cant breathe, in a tent, wind blowing - WHAT THE FUCK AM I DOING HERE!!!

3:30am - Calm down by telling myself to chill. Go out of the tent and hang with camp-mates and blab about a bunch of shit. Jessica (NWPPI) ponders the oddities of Russian woman.

4:30am - Sleep.

9:00am - Wake up. Hot hot hot. Wanna sleep but cant. Eat breakfast and hang around camp picking my nose for a few hours.

11:00am - Read about the Carpet Munching class and Dildo workshop. Excited, I walk around camp looking for a female volunteer to accompany me. Alas, a lot of talk led to nothing.

2:00pm - Finally able to rustle up some folk Ari, Pad, Christie, Lucky and Christine. (N’sWPPeoplesI) and head out on the playa. They say: “We will only go out for 45 minutes” We head out to a kostume kamp. I trade a Yellow Indian Hawaiian thing for a brown thing. Red Robin serves us 1 drink. 1 drink for 5 people. Somehow it does the trick and we all suddenly have little smiles on our faces. Wandering around the playa, saying hello to Port-A-Potties, we stumble along a hot-dog and grilled cheese vendor. Yummy little snack.

4:30pm - Back at camp to eat some food. Its getting windy. Really windy. So windy its getting cold, early. The sun is up but its cold. The dust is thick and covering the sun. Pad and Doug start cooking food.

5:00pm - I take the coldest shower in my life. Its supposed to be fucking hot here, but the wind mixed with cold-air and water - freezing. Pad and Doug still cooking food. Pad and Doug making Margaritas. Pad finishes squeezing 80 limes into a container. 10 minutes later LeCar (NWPPI) throws limejuice on the Playa in a fit of estrogen induced voodoo madness.

7:00pm - Pad and Doug finally find love in the kitchen. They cannot separate themselves from the stove flame.

8:00pm - On my way to the Potty I see the Yellow shirt I donated a few hours ago. He is walking along the street dancing to nearby music. Good shirt.

9:00pm - Camp-A-Licious meeting. EnneaGram presentation by Christine and Jess. Doug provides survival tips. Dartanian discussed Fortune-A-Licious. I start drinking Rum.

10:00pm - It starts raining Vicodin courtesy of Katherine (NWPPI). None of us could believe so many fit her in her pocket. It must have been a magic trick.

10:30pm - Head out with L.A. Jeff, LeCar and Ellen to go get Gas for the stoves. Lose everyone at the Potty. Find Ellen 10 minutes later. We head over to a camp where we meet some cool canucks from Vancouver. They donate a few Gin and Tonic drinks to our livers. We are very grateful.

10:30pm - Getting drunk, very drunk. Smoking Marley and getting drunk. Go out with Dan, Pad, LeCar, Francisco (NWPPI) and Jason (NWPPI). Visiting busy parties. I have a desire to see L.A. Jeff and I yell out his name…magically, he appears.

Friday

Midnight - Totally fucked on a combination of Alcohol, Marley, Vicodin and Charlie who is bumping his way along right beside me. Dancing to crazy beats and having a blast.

1:00am - No Bike. L Someone took it.

1:30am - Take LeCar’s borrowed bike and head back to camp to get more alcohol with Danny.

2:00am - Fill up on alcohol with a nice donation from Pete (NWPPI).

2:30am - Arrive at Lotus with gobs of liquor. Meet Lucky, Doc (NWPPI), Rodg (NWPPI) and Helen (NWPPI).

3:00am - Dancing, drinking, hootin and hollering. Lucky and Helen get enlightened on the dance-floor. Jess and Christie make their way to the scene. Pad has a bad reaction to the wine.

3:30am - Danny’s go-go, must not stay in one place too long attitude shoots me and him across the playa. I am royally fucked up and loving life. We meet a Budda in the middle of the playa and dance and smoke with him. Then head over to the Tip of 2am clubs and I get to hear some sick-ass Techno. Dancing away with Danny being a tour-guide showing me club after club.

5:00am - I say bye to Danny and stay at Club Question Mark.

5:45am - Meet up with Toni (NWPPI), Ari, Christine and Jess at Lush. Frenchie guy chugs down the last of the Frangelico.

6:00am - Heading back home. One hand has Jessica, one hand has my bike. I think she was holding me up on the left side. Rafael (NWPPI) random comes along and wants to come to camp with us but, wisely, after visiting the Port-A-Potty, decides against it.

7:00am - Sleep.

10:00am - Wake up. Troll around camp for a few hours.

2:00pm - Head out on a borrowed bike. Drinking, smoking, getting covered in Liquid Latex. Dancing with random joe and jills. A parade of very hairy, brawny woman walk by. One of the woman (not very pretty and with a manly voice) asks to give me a blowjob. I decline, she calls me a faggot and prances off.

5:00pm - Back at camp and getting ready for the night. We begin preparing for Fortune-A-Licious. Few people have hope that it will turn out. Somehow it did. L.A. Jeff donates to me “Un Scarf Incroyable” and I turn into Playa Pimp, I even had some Bitches!!

8:00pm - The camp is ready and the go-ahead is given. Mia (NWPPI) goes out and lures unsuspecting folk to our camp with Alcohol and promises of strange fortune.

9:00pm - We got a lot of fucking people at camp. Music changes from Bob Saget to Electronica and party kicks into high gear. Ari finds a hidden talent he never knew he had.

10:30pm - “Get The Fuck Out, Go Home” We all say and bid the happy wanderers adieu. We head out with a few people looking for good dance-music. Somehow our group of 10 dwindles down to 4 as we lose many to acid and other goodies.

Saturday

Midnight - Still haven’t found any good music. 4th place we visit to no avail. Jess, Christine and me ditch the crowd and go off on a quest. We wander the playa, watering it healthily.

1:00am - Jump on a non-moving art-car and dance, chill and relax. Taking a couple hits of Marley and the occasional Vicodin - we are feeling good.

2:00am - We get on another art-car (Orange Heaven) really nice and plush. They drive us to Center Camp. From there we walk to 10pm. Dancing at Lotus and SoulSystem we meet up with other people and enjoy life.

3:00am - 5:00am - Unknown. Somehow got back to camp. If anyone can fill me in - please do so.

10:00am - Wake up. I am so fucking tired. I cant stand it. I have no enormous drugs in my system to fuel my delirium so I can really really feel it. I am so tired I decide to take a Vicodin in the hope that I can fall back asleep. It works, but only for half an hour. FUCK! So I start drinking beer and feeling very woozy.

1:00pm - Me, LeCar and Jeff B. (NWPPI) head out to wander. Jeff B. is giving out free hugs to great BM FanFare. We feel like lushes as we look for alcohol and the Vampire Bar. Getting drunk and having fun, LeCar and I say by to Jeff and head out to take some pictures.

3:30pm - At the temple, I am out of film. I almost pass out from heat exhaustion, but my CamelPack saves the day.

4:00pm - Heading back to camp, we stop off at the Pizza Factory and make ourselves a pretty decent Playa meal. Then head over to Liquid Latex and color ourselves.

5:00pm - Back at camp to relax a bit.

8:00pm - Lots of camp hub bub in getting ready for pictures and the burn.

9:00pm - At the man. Mine and Cesar’s (NWPPI) attempt to save the man goes unheard. All of Licious puts Jeff B.’s mom in our thoughts.

9:30pm - The man burns and burns and burns. Awesome sight with all the art-cars and people congregated in that area. Everyone is beginning to roll. I mean everyone. There is not a single soul on the playa who is not rolling. Everyone is in an E frenzy. I stick to relaxing.

11:00pm - We make our way to Mutaytor Theater and everyone is getting hit hard with their shit. I kick it with the group and provide occasional drinks of agua to the peeps.

Sunday

Midnight - comes and goes.

12:45am - I finally head over to SoulSystem with Khaleel and Nora (N’sWPPI). I am tired. With the tired comes anxiousness. I feel like I cant breath and I am getting annoyed. Trying to dance and find the groove but can never really find it.

3:00am - Head over to Cesar’s car to take a nap. Works well for a while. Get visited by several people including the lovely Rachel (NWPPI).

4:00am - Walk back to camp with Khaleel and Nora.

4:30am - Sleep.

9:00am - Wake up.

10:00am - Packed up and heading home. Listening to BM radio - Great station. Should’ve listened to it more often at BRC. Passing cops stopping cars. Hear about accidents and slowly entering the world.

Noon - Gas station attendant cant help but laugh at me with my Purple nail-polish and strange desire for coffee and a lot of doughnuts.

1:00pm - 50 miles outside of Sacramento I cannot keep my eyes open. I pull over at a gas station, park the car, keep it running, AC on and pass out.

4:00pm - Wake up! Wow - That was good. Stumble into bathroom, wash a bit and head home.

8:00pm - Arrive at home.

The Civilized Explorer Reno Supplies Shopping Page

Specific Stores of Burning Man Interest

Area Code -- The area code for Reno is 775.
Twin City Surplus

1675 E. 4th St. (888) 323-5630

Local numbers 323-5630 323-7814 FAX

Open 8-6 Monday-Saturday and 10-4 Sunday
This "Big Red Barn" provides camping and military surplus supplies. This is a phenonemal place - it's huge and has the largest assortment of various surplus stuff I've ever seen. Fire suits, water barrels, gloves, tents, tarps, goggles, parachutes, military lip balm, etc. They have helped supply Burning Man for years and are accustomed to helping Europeans and other folks from outside the US supply their entire camp. This year, they've contributed gear worth $700 to a Reno radio station giveaway for Burning Man. It's almost worth going even if you don't need anything, just to talk to them and other Burners. We've also done our own web page of pictures from the Big Red Barn.

To get there, get onto Route 80, take Exit 16 (Victorian Ave./E. 4th St.), turn right onto E. 4th and then go west 4 blocks.

K-Mart

3800 Kietzke Lane 825-0800
Close to the aiport, this is also convenient for travellers coming into Reno from the south. There is also a Joann Fabrics store here.

From Route 395, take Exit 64 (Moana Lane), go west on Moana, left onto Kietzke Lane.

Trader Joe's

5035 S. McCarran Blvd. 826-1621
What would Burning Man be without at least 2 bags of groceries from Trader Joe's? Fortunately, Reno is also blessed with a store for those who remembered they forgot to get the Combat Juice Blend somewhere outside Truckee and for those who fly into town. Located in the Smithridge Plaza, next to Longs, across McCarran from the Meadowood Mall. Take Exit 63 (S. Virginia St. - Kietzke Lane), go east on McCarran. The mall is just east of Route 395. Claims to be open 9 am to 9 pm.

Home Depot
They've got 3 locations in Reno, thanks to good old American capitalism.

5125 Summit Ridge Ct 787-9690

Route 80 - Exit 10, McCarran Blvd., bear right to go south onto S. McCarran Blvd., continue on the ramp and then bear right onto Summit Ridge Drive. Go straight at the stop sign.
2955 Northtowne Ln 674-2900

Route 80 - Exit 15, Route 395 North

Immediately after exiting, merge one lane left (the lane you're in will exit onto Oddie Blvd). Take the North McCarren Exit, #70. Go Right. You will see a shopping center on the right with Wal-Mart and Winco Foods. Glance left... hey, there's Home Depot!
6590 S Virginia St 851-9600

Route 395 - Exit 62, Del Monte Lane. Left onto Del Monte, right onto S. Virginia.

Big Lots (previously MacFrugal's)
Home of the battery powered Christmas lights, this institution is always part of my Burning Man shopping. If you've left home without the lights, there are some stores along the way.

Reno
5017 S McCarran Blvd 826-5565 From Route 395, take Exit 63 (S. Virginia/Kietzke Lane), left onto S. Virginia, left onto S. McCarran, right to Meadowood Mall. Note, this is close to The Party Market and Gordon's Photo Service.

Sierra Trading Post

Sierra Town Center 828-8050
Sierra Trading Post has a catalog outlet store in Reno for your last minute outdoor clothes needs. They just moved into new facilities at the Sierra Town Center. From Route 80, take Route 395 south toward the airport; take Exit 62, Del Monte Lane, go east on Del Monte. Go right onto S. Virginia, the shopping center is about a quarter mile on the left. Our info says they are open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, and 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sunday. We shop here every year after Burning Man to begin stocking up for the next year.

Dollar Tree
There are 2 locations in Reno that are convenient for Burners, so you can easily stock up on cheap toilet paper, Santa hats, water, cookies, and other essential stuff.

450 Keystone Ave 323-4998

From Route 80, take Exit 12 (Keystone Ave.), go south on Keystone, the store is about a block on your left. This is one of our favorite stores because of it's location - it's close to Simply Water and Crystal Ice Co.
95 W Plumb Ln (near the intersection with S. Virginia, in Lakeside Plaza near Albertson's and Sav-On) 329-2700

From Route 80, take Exit 13 (Virginia St.), go south on Virgina 2 miles, turn right onto Plumb Lane. From Route 395, take Exit 65 (Plumb Lane), go west on Plumb Lane about a mile.
Other locations are

· 3334 S. McCarren Blvd. 827-1144

· 22254 Oddie Blvd. Sparks 358-3110

Specific Products

Dry Ice and Ice
Albertson's, Raley's (89 cents a pound in 2000), Scoleri's, and Safeway stores in Reno, Sparks, and Fernley sell dry ice. We have found that many sell out just before Burning Man; the Scolari's in Fernley had dry ice when no other grocery store did. Now we stop at Crystal Ice, they have tons of ice. For people coming from the south, The Water Mart in Sparks may be more convenient. I don't know of any ice companies along Route 395 in Reno.

Brief instructions for use in cooling and freezing are available.

Crystal Ice 1345 W. 4th St. Reno 323-5145 323-3049 FAX Conveniently located off the Keystone exit - turn South, then right at the 2nd light onto 4th St. Crystal Ice is on the right just after the Keystone RV Park (about 2 blocks). You can back up to the loading dock - what could be more convenient? They are open 7 days a week. We paid 75 cents a pound for 30 pounds in 2001.
The Water Mart 1239 Baring Blvd 702-358-2500 Sparks (corner of Sparks and Baring - use exit 20 off Route 80, go north 2 miles to Baring Blvd). In the Baring Village Shopping Center, they are open 10 am to 7 pm Monday through Friday, and 10 am to 5 pm Saturday, Sunday and holidays. They will stay open late on request. Their ice is made from purified water and costs 89 cents for an 8 pound bag, $1.99 for 20 pounds and $4.49 for 50 pounds. Baring Village Shopping Center is anchored by a Smith's Supermarket (where you can get Dry Ice). This place is described by Jerry Smith (who claims to work there) at his Burning Man 2002 webpage. This site also describes useful Reno resources.
Batteries
A-1 Battery 2825 Kietzke Lane 826-0866

From 395, take Exit 64 (Moana Lane). Go west on Moana 0.2 miles to Kietzke Lane. Turn right onto Kietzke, A-1 is a quarter mile up the road.

Locksmith
Ever since we "lost" the only key for our rental van at Burning Man, we've gotten an extra key made. Here are some locksmiths in Reno.

Keystone West Locksmith

836 W. 5th St. 329-5010

From Route 80, take Exit 12 (Keystone Ave.), go south on Keystone, left onto W. 5th St.

Desert Locksmiths provides mobile service 24/7 call 747-7861

General Fun Stuff
The Party Universe sells plastic champagne glasses, wigs, paper cups and plates, and glow sticks, if you find you have an inadequate supply of these items as you are driving past Truckee. It is a little out of the way in that it isn't close to a freeway off-ramp, but when you need a pink wig and champagne glasses, it's one stop shopping!

5925 S. Virginia 800-729-1438 or 825-0825. Open 7 days a week.

From Route 395, take Exit 63 (S. Virginia/Kietzke Lane). Go left on S. Virginia half a mile and the store is in a little shopping center on the right. It's at the rear of the parking lot. Note, this is close to Big Lots (formerly MacFrugals) and Gordon's Photo Service.

The Party Universe also has a Sparks store at 635 E. Prater Way in the Iron Horse Shopping Center 331-3112.

Tuesday Morning features Lauren Bacall in its ads, so it must be good. Lots of discounted housewares and linens, but some tacky garden stuff and kitchen tools too.

in the Sierra Marketplace, on the southeast corner of S. Virginia and Moana Lane.

Butler's Uniforms has police, fire, postal, security, corrections, and industrial uniforms. I'm just sayin... Open Monday - Saturday 235 Keystone Ave. 323-4452
McDonald's
Jack in the Box
Starbucks
Route 80 - Exit 12, Keystone Ave.
Keystone Square Shopping Center
Located just off Route 80, at the intersections of Keystone and 4th Street. This is our perennial favorite because it's convenient and meets our needs. We meet lots of burners in the parking lot, so it feels like the Burning Man experience has already started.

In the shopping center itself, you can find

Albertson's supermarket (open 24 hours but no dry ice)
Simply Water, a Burning Man friendly business (337-8111) providing purified water (35 cents a gallon in 2001) & ice, bottles, 55 gallon drums, & other stuff to help keep you hydrated on the playa.
Within walking distance of the parking lot (like, across the street) are

liquor stores
hardware, auto and RV supplies
The Sportsman, sporting goods store
Knucklehead's Sports Bar, open 24/7 405 Vine
an urgent care medical facility
Dollar Tree - cheap water, toilet paper, Santa hats, packaged food, toys

450 Keystone Ave. 323-4998
Keystone West Locksmith 836 W. 5th St. 329-5010 (about 3 blocks away on 5th St.)
A little farther away - and on the other side of Route 80, so you'd probably want to drive is

Raley's Supermarket which has DRY ICE and stocks up for Burning Man.

701 Keystone Ave. (just north of Route 80 at Keystone) 747-5267
Sav-On Drugs
Gateway Inn
Motel 6
Route 80 - Exit 13, Virginia St./Downtown Reno
Wow! A brand new Walgreen's built ON the freeway overpass. It's hard to get any closer to Route 80.

Route 80 - Exit 15, Route 395 North
Northtowne Market Place

After exiting Route 80, use Exit 70 off Route 395 North
This lovely location has a great selection of stores.

Winco Foods 2855 Northtowne Ln, 331-6966 OPEN 24 HOURS
WalMart
Home Despot 2955 Northtowne Lane 674-2900
Baskin Robbins, Wendy's, Subway, Round Table Pizza
Office Max
Pet Supermarket
Kiwanis dropoff box for aluminum can recycling
Gutterpup, who lives near Reno, says,

"Take the exit to Route 395 North (Susanville), merge one lane left (the lane you're in will exit onto Oddie Blvd). Take the North McCarren Exit, #70. Go Right. You will see a shopping center on the right with Wal-Mart and Winco Foods. (Glance left... hey, there's Home Depot! Pick up your last minute building supplies!) What could be better, Dry Ice and Building materials on the same street!"

These are excellent directions, this shopping center is convenient when travelling east on Route 80. And he means it when he says to merge one lane left!

Route 80 - Exit 16, Victorian Ave./E. 4th St.
This is an industrial area on the border of Reno and Sparks, so there's not alot of shopping, but what IS here is great!

Twin City Surplus camping gear and military surplus - 323-5630

From Route 80, take Exit 16 (Victorian Ave./E. 4th St.), turn right onto E. 4th and then go west 4 blocks.
2152 Prater Way Sparks 359-3636

From Route 80, take Exit 16 (Victorian Blvd.), go east on Victorian Blvd. left onto 22nd St., right onto Prater Way
Route 80 - Exit 19, E McCarran Blvd.
There is a fair number of stores along N. McCarran Blvd and then Prater Way, following a left turn off N. McCarran. These are listed in the order you see them traveling north from Route 80.

Wienerschnitzel fast food
Wells Fargo 400 N. McCarran Blvd.
Wendy's 440 N. McCarran Blvd.
